Foundations of Coffee serves as an introduction to all SCA Pathways - graduates of this course come away with a fundamental level of understanding and vocabulary that inform the Barista, Roaster, Coffee Buyer, and Coffee Taster Pathways. This intensive one day course is the most comprehensive seed-to-cup course offered at Visions, and is a great standalone course for either the coffee enthusiast or seasoned professional wanting to learn more.
Lectures cover a variety of topics impacting coffee such as agronomy, earth sciences, economics, and sociology, bringing the seed to cup journey to life. Graduates of this course will receive credit for the following SCA courses:
- CB100: Seed to Cup
- CP103: Customer Service Essentials
- CP151: Brewing and Extraction Principles
- CP152: Brewing and Extraction Principles Applied
- GE103: Orientation to SCA Cupping

Visions Education Course Policies
All sales on educational courses are final. In the event you must cancel, you may apply your course fees to a future course or transfer to another person for a 15% administrative fee. Any changes must be made at minimum 7 days prior to the course taking place.
